The above verse reads:
A span is all that we can boast
An inch or two of time
Man is but vanity and dust
In all his flower and prime

The above verse reads:
When alive precious was her life
A mother dear and tender wife
Great is the loss which we sustain
We hope to meet in Heaven again

William Davies died 19 January 1875 aged 82
Sarah Davies (nee Andrews) his wife died 6 June 1880 aged 81.
Their great grandson Charles Edgar Davies married my first cousin (3 times removed) Gladys May Cale.
